Cops were called to the property on Corfe Crescent on June 2 last year after concerns about Fox’s safety were raised.

Footage from PC Reddington’s bodycam shows Fox holding a knife against a terrified woman’s throat.

The cop shouts at Fox: “Put the knife down, put the knife down!”

Suddenly Fox launches at three officers making stabbing and slashing movements with the blade.

Fox can be heard yelling “Get down then!” and moments later PC Reddington is heard screaming in pain.

While other officers handcuff Fox, PC Reddington calmly radios his control room to tell his superiors about the attack.

He says: “I’ve been stabbed, I’ve been stabbed, I’ve been stabbed.”

Fox was charged with knifing PC Reddington, PC Holly Grey and another officer.

He later pleaded guilty to inflicting grievous bodily harm without intent and was found guilty of two counts of wounding with intent following a trial.

On Monday he was jailed for 11 years and eight months at Teesside Crown Court.

The three Cleveland Police officers have been honoured for their bravery.

PC Reddington, who was stabbed under the armpit, described the scene as “absolute bedlam”.

He said: “I tried to defend myself with a baton to back him off, but there was a flurry of knife swings.

“I later realised my stab vest was covered in slash and stab marks.

“It was only down to pure luck that the knife missed my major organs.”

PC Holly Grey was stabbed in the leg and another officer suffered a slash wound.

PCs Sam Handley, Rachael Dack, Cara Crosby and another unnamed officer were also involved in trying to disarm the man.

Superintendent John Wrintmore, said: “Police put their lives at risk every day by protecting members of the public and attacks such as this one are both shocking and truly disgraceful.

“This was a terrifying incident for our officers who have been fully supported throughout this horrific ordeal.

“Fox’s actions on this day were extremely dangerous and reckless and this level of violence will not be tolerated under any circumstances.”

The three officers were honoured at the national Police Bravery Awards in London.

Cleveland Police Chief Constable Mark Webster said: “Our officers put their lives on the line every day to protect members of the public and attacks such as this are appalling.

“The bravery and resilience these officers showed to arrest an armed offender in the face of imminent danger was truly inspiring. They are a credit to themselves and the entire force.

“They represent the very best of Cleveland Police and we all could not be prouder of them. I’m so pleased they have been recognised for their heroic actions.”

Cleveland Police Federation Secretary Carl Baker said: “This was a hugely alarming incident at which all officers showed immense bravery and courage to detain the offender and protect the public who were present.

“Three officers received stab and slash wounds. It is only due to pure luck that one officer was not fatally stabbed, as the wound just missed a lung and major arteries.

“This shows once again that officers will put their lives at risk and go above and beyond to protect the communities they serve.

“I am immensely proud to call these officers my colleagues. They have once again shown the true values of policing.”
