Here’s what we’re snapping up.
A Court of Thorns and Roses Paperback Box Set, £35.40 (was £50)
Chosen by: Kieran Ahuja, Commissioning Editor
Buy if: You’re a fan of mildly spicy fantasy series; think the political intrigue and fantasy elements of Game of Thrones, with the romance and enchantment of Beauty and the Beast
Don’t buy if: You’re expecting a Booker Prize winner; it’s riveting, but it’s not exactly Shakespeare
After hearing breathless praise for the series both among friends and on TikTok, I decided to give A Court of Thorns and Roses a go while on holiday last week, and while I’m only a few chapters in, I can see why people are so obsessed with it.
Although it’s set in a fantasy world, the heart of the plot seems to be a steamy romance, making it both interesting and a bit trashy; the perfect holiday read.
You can currently get the whole series of books for just £20, a 60% discount.
tado° Smart Radiator Thermostat, £129.99 (was £199.99)
Chosen by: Joel Watson, Sun Selects Editor
Buy if: you want an easy way to make your home more energy-efficient
Don’t buy if: I can’t give a reason, they’re great and competitively priced.
Tado’s smart thermostats quickly went from a product that I didn’t know I needed, to one that I now can’t live without.
They make heating your home room-by-room so easy and efficient and, given that they’re £70 off for a three-pack of radiator thermometers right now, I’d say this offer is too good to miss.
Eufy X8 Robovac, £338 (was £349)
Chosen by: Aaron Dowler, Strategic Partnerships Lead
Buy if: You’re time-poor and need a little help around the house
Don’t buy if: The thought of robots taking over is too much for you
I’m all about simplicity this year, if something can make my life easier then I am willing to give it a try, and this Eufy X8 Robovac has revolutionised my housekeeping beyond words.
I have a very active three-year-old black Labrador and with great activity comes great amounts of dog hair floating along the flooring like a tumbleweed.
This clever little vacuum has mapped my ground floor and heads out at the same time every day on a cleaning spree.
I’m shocked (and disgusted) every time I empty it by the sheer amount of filth that it’s picked up.
It’s become an invaluable part of my cleaning routine and I couldn’t be without it.
Russell Hobbs Steam Genie Handheld Clothes Steamer, £32.99 (was £43.99)
Chosen by: Zoe Bennetts, Affiliates Manager
Buy if: You don’t own an iron or hate ironing.
Don’t buy if: You love ironing and it’s already part of your routine.
I’ll be the first to admit that when it comes to chores I aim to cut as many corners as possible – one being, instead of ironing I will just shake clothes once they’re out of the washing machine and hope for the best.
I just can’t bring myself to go through the motions of getting out an ironing board, filling up the iron, heating it up, ironing the items and then putting everything away again, so a steamer has been on my wishlist for a while.
When I spotted this Russell Hobbs handheld model I added it straight to my bag, as not only is it 27% off, but it also comes with three different attachments for different fabrics, upholstery and even a lint brush – an absolute steal for just £32.29.
SHOKZ OpenFit Headphones, £139 (was £179)
Chosen by: Natalie Chui, Commissioning Editor
Buy if: You run outdoors and love to listen to music or podcasts
Don’t buy if: You only run on treadmills indoors
There’s very rarely one thing that I’d say you need for running, but other than a decent pair of shoes, I swear by having a good pair of earphones.
If you’re a road runner like me, chances are you’re often looking around for cars, bikes and pedestrians as you rank up your mile but even if you’re in a remote setting, it’s important to be aware of your surroundings for your safety.
This is why the Shokz OpenFit Earphones are an absolute essential for me and this Prime Day they’re now 22% off at £139.
Its unique bone conduction technology means that it sits around my ears instead of directly inside, allowing me to still listen to podcasts while being able to listen to my surroundings.
It’s also comfortable to wear all day as it doesn’t get sweaty, and it never falls off – even when I’m sprinting.
Bose SoundLink Micro Bluetooth Speaker, £89 (was £119.95)
Chosen by: Rhys Melhado-Thompson, Freelance Writer
Summer is hopefully just around the corner, and with it comes socialising in the great outdoors again.
But what is a picnic in the park or a last-minute football game without a bit of music?
I’m a firm believer that music makes everything better, and having a portable speaker makes a massive difference for me and Bose’s Micro Bluetooth speaker is precisely the addition I needed.
While the 26% discount is a huge incentive for the ability to have a truly portable speaker that only weighs 340 grams is a game changer.
Plus, it’s also a rugged outdoor speaker that’s also waterproof means it will be joining me on the beach.
Echo Pop, £19.99 (was £44.99)
Chosen by: Tom Tyers, Freelance Tech Reporter
Buy if: You’re looking to extend Alexa’s presence into smaller spaces without denting your wallet.
Don’t buy if: You need superior audio quality or a device for larger rooms. The Pop is solid, but it won’t fill a room with sound like the Echo Dot can.
I’m well acquainted with Amazon’s lineup of smart devices, with an Echo Dot in the front room, and a Fire TV in my bedroom. It’s safe to say I’m a fan of the budget tech.
My kitchen is just out of earshot of Alexa, though, and grabbing another Dot didn’t seem practical just for that space, so I was quick to snag the Echo Pop when it launched.
It may be smaller, but it packs the same smarts and Alexa compatibility as my Dot.
Now, I can play my favourite tunes while cooking or convert measurements hands-free.
So naturally, when I spotted it at a 56% discount during Prime Day, dropped to only £19.99, I immediately recognized it as my top pick of the sale.
Garnier Ambre Solaire Sun Protection Over Makeup, £5.48 (was £13)
Chosen by: Harriet Flook, Senior E-Commerce Writer
Buy if: You are looking for a budget sunscreen that will also set your make-up.
Don’t buy if: I can’t think of a reason why you wouldn’t!
This year I’m snapping up this £5 Garnier sun-screen.
I’ve never been brilliant at wearing SPF all year round, but I’m trying to be better having noticed the effects of the sun on my skin as I age.
Not only will it help to protect and keep your skin looking healthier, but also younger – after all, there’s no point in dropping cash on fancy moisturisers, to omit the SPF.
Anyway, enough lecturing, Garnier’s Ambre Solaire Sun Protection Over Makeup Mist makes it easier to ensure you wear SPF as you simply spray it over your finished look, and it’ll invisibly set your make-up while protecting your skin.
Its also ultra-light texture will feel like you’re wearing nothing at all, with added Glycerin, Vitamin E, and Hyaluronic Acid to keep your skin glowing from the inside out.
There’s no excuse not to wear SPF when it’s this simple – and cheap.
Nespresso Vertuo Next Automatic Pod Coffee Machine, £69 (was £150)
Chosen by: Chantelle Symester, Lead E-commerce and Affiliates Editor
My old Nespresso Magimix coffee machine is on its last legs (RIP!) so I am on the lookout for a new model to upgrade to while Prime Day sales are running.
Luckily, I have spotted plenty of fantastic coffee machine offers, but the one that has caught my eye is the Nespresso Vertuo Next Automatic Pod Coffee Machine.
Originally £150, fellow coffee addicts can snap up the sleek and compact pod machine for just £69 — that’s a healthy 54% saving.
I love the stylish design and the simple one-touch operation, this model also allows you to make five different-sized coffees rather than the two-cup version I already own.
Another great feature I love is that the Vertuo machine can be linked to your mobile via the Nespresso app, allowing you to track when your machine needs to be descaled and get automatic machine software updates.
Audible – two months free!
Chosen by: Matt Breen, Senior E-commerce Writer
Buy if: You love books, but never feel like you have enough time to sit down and actually read them
Don’t buy if: You’re an old-school bibliophile, and still love the feeling of paper in your hands.
As part of its wider Prime Day charm offensive, Amazon is luring in new customers with some top-notch offers on its other subscription services.
I’ve decided to sign up for Audible: right now, Prime members can get 3 months completely free of charge.
You get one audiobook to download on a monthly basis: I’ve gone with The Lord Of The Rings (narrated by Andy Serkis, aka Gollum, on fine form).
And yep, that’s the entire, unabridged book – over 60 hours of pure, nerdish escapism.
All for free. If that’s not value for money, I don’t know what is.
