1 man arrested in suspected homicide near US 290 in Elgin

One man is dead and another has been arrested after a suspected homicide in Elgin Tuesday night, police said in a release.

ELGIN, Texas (KXAN) — One man is dead and another has been arrested after a suspected homicide in Elgin Tuesday night, police said in a release.

The Elgin Police Department said it responded around 7:08 p.m. Tuesday to a disturbance and shots fired call at U.S. Highway 290 and County Line Road.

Police found a man, later identified as Joseph Stanczyk, dead from an apparent gunshot wound, EPD said.

Fabian Salas, 34, was arrested and charged with murder in the incident, police said. As of Wednesday morning, attorney representation wasn't available for Salas. This story will be updated if that information becomes available and his representation provides a statement on his behalf.

Salas was booked into Travis County jail. His bond has not been set, EPD said.
