Trump-loving Nevada Republican indicted for scheme to rip off charity for slain cops

Michele Fiore, a Trump-loving Nevada Republican, has been indicted by a grand jury for allegedly embezzling money from donors who believed that they were giving to a charitable foundation dedicated to building memorials for slain police officers.

The Nevada Independent reports that Fiore allegedly solicited donations for the charity in her capacity as a Las Vegas City Councilwoman, where she vowed that "100 percent" of the funds given would go toward making memorials for Nevada police officers killed in the line of duty.

In reality, the indictment claims, Fiore used that cash to pay for a wide range of different expenses, ranging from her rent to political fundraising bills to her own daughter's wedding.

She currently faces four charges of wire fraud and one count of conspiracy to commit wire fraud.

As the Nevada Independent notes, Fiore has long been dogged by both political and legal controversies.

"While running for state treasurer in 2022, Fiore faced allegations of violating campaign finance law accusing her of taking donations exceeding the state’s $10,000 maximum contribution limit and benefiting from a potential 'straw donor scheme,'" the publication writes.

"Fiore later amended her campaign finance reports, acknowledging her involvement in a previously undisclosed business and revising the campaign donations that would have exceeded the $10,000 donation limit, alongside other changes. However, reporting by The Nevada Independent indicated that discrepancies remained."
