THR maintains the directors are still in early stages of talks to helm the upcoming films, which will mark their return to Marvel and the MCU.

The Russo Brothers‘ past two MCU films, which were the last two Avengers movies, were among the biggest box office hits. Endgame became the second highest grossing film ever with $2.79 billion, while Infinity Wars is the sixth highest with $2.05 billion.

The search for directors for the movies has been ongoing for a while. Shang Chi‘s Destin Daniel Cretton was previously attached to direct The Kang Dynasty, but dropped out last November. Deadpool & Wolverine‘s Shawn Levy was also recently being eyed to direct the next movie, but reportedly passed on the project.

In case you forgot, Joe and Anthony Russo also directed Captain America: The Winter Soldier and Captain America: Civil War.

Avengers: The Kang Dynasty is currently slated to release in 2026, while Avengers: Secret Wars is slated for 2027, bringing The Multiverse Saga to an end.
