Navy exonerates Black sailors punished after 1944 Port Chicago explosion
Secretary of the Navy Carlos Del Toro on Wednesday fully exonerated 258 Black sailors who were charged with mutiny and refusing orders after they were being forced to return to do dangerous work loading munitions, while white officers were given hardship leave.
