Suspect arrested in Tri-Valley BART stabbing
PLEASANTON — A woman passenger on a BART train was stabbed Wednesday morning and a suspect was later arrested, officials said.
The woman suffered a non-life-threatening injury and was taken to a hospital for treatment, officials said.
The stabbing was reported about 7:18 a.m. Wednesday on board a train at the Dublin/Pleasanton Station. BART officials said the woman was injured by a “sharpened object” but did not specify what the weapon was.
The man suspected in the attack fled the train but was arrested by BART police outside the station moments later, BART spokesman Chris Filippi said. His name was not immediately released.
Authorities did not release a motive for the attack and said at this point in the investigation it does not appear the suspect knew the woman.
BART service was shut down between the Dublin/Pleasanton and West Dublin/Pleasanton stations for about an hour while police investigated. Riders were provided bus service between the two stations.
