Drake Could Not Be Having a Worse Summer

His Toronto home is currently filled with floodwater.

At this point, it’s hard not to feel a little bad for Drake. Thanks to his feud with Kendrick Lamar, one of the most inescapable songs of the summer is a diss track about … him. To make matters worse, he is drowning in the fabric of his pants. And now, Drake is struggling with actual water — that is, major flooding in his hard-earned Toronto Frankenmansion.

In footage he posted to his Instagram Stories Tuesday, murky storm sludge from the city’s torrential downpour can be seen flowing into one of his many precious mirrored rooms, its undercurrent threatening to sweep away a set of cream-colored tufted benches. Apparently taken from Drake’s POV, the clip shows him sloshing through multiple feet of liquid in lounge shorts and slippers while holding a broom (??) that is doing absolutely nothing. Meanwhile, a younger guy — a highly paid intern, I hope? — in wellies looks anxiously toward large racks of expensive hype-y clothing in the next room over.

To be clear, Drake is probably the least suffering person in Toronto right now — severe storms throughout upstate New York and Canada this week caused heavy rainfall in the city, which saw about four inches of rain. Toronto Pearson Airport reported its fifth-wettest day ever on Tuesday, a data point Drake would surely be writing a lyric about if he were not frantically scooping rust-colored floodwater out of his bra room. At least he is making the best of it — he joked on his Instagram Stories, “This better be espresso martini.” A certified lover boy can dream.
