Novato farmers market returns to Hamilton Landing

The Hamilton Landing Farmers' Market, run by Agricultural Community Events Farmers' Markets, is open from 10 a.m. to 2 p.m. on Tuesdays through November.

A farmers market in Novato’s Hamilton neighborhood has returned for a second season.

The Hamilton Landing Farmers’ Market, run by Agricultural Community Events Farmers’ Markets, is open from 10 a.m. to 2 p.m. on Tuesdays through November.

The Hamilton Landing market has around five vendors offering produce, as well as some prepared and packaged food options. It’s the group’s second, smaller location in Novato aimed at offering a market in an underserved community.

“They created a really beautiful parklike space in front of the hangars where you can hang out and have food,” said Kelly Smith, the executive director of the farmers market group. “It’s always the perfect climate. It’s a nice hamlet of a location.”

Smith said the owners of Hamilton Landing reached out to the group last year, asking if they would offer a farmers market for their tenants.

The market accepts Snap and CalFresh cards, and offers up to a $15 march for anything used on the CalFresh cards.

“If you’re a person on Calfresh, you’re on a limited budget and you may skip over some really beautiful tomatoes because they are expensive this time of year,” Smith said. “It opens up that budget so that you can reach into those healthy, local fresh foods that you may have skipped over before.”
