Lloyd Center parking garage stabber sentenced to 18 years

A man was sentenced to 18 years in prison Wednesday for stabbing someone to death at a parking lot near the Lloyd Center in 2022.

PORTLAND, Ore. (KOIN) — A man was sentenced to 18 years in prison Wednesday for stabbing a man to death at a parking lot near the Lloyd Center in 2022.

According to the Multnomah County District Attorney's Office, 27-year-old Jeffery Joseph McNeill, of Alaska, was sentenced Wednesday for the killing of 33-year-old Nickolas "Nick" Henderson. Following a negotiated plea agreement, McNeill was sentenced by a judge to 18 years for one count of first-degree manslaughter and one count of first-degree attempted armed robbery.

McNeill had originally been charged with second-degree murder after the killing that took place on Nov. 4, 2022

Officers discovered Henderson during a welfare check call around 11:25 p.m. at a parking lot in the 2200 block of the Lloyd Center and noted that his death seemed to have “suspicious circumstances.” A medical examiner concluded his death was a homicide.

Portland police detectives launched an investigation and, by June 2023, offered a $2,500 cash reward for anyone with information that could lead to an arrest.

After identifying McNeill as a person of interest, investigators found that he was in custody of Clackamas County Jail on unrelated charges. He was later transferred to Multnomah County.
