7/17/24: Finally! Some Relief!
Latest Forecast Update from Meteorologists Steve Caporizzo & Rob Lindenmuth:
Another wet afternoon with scattered showers and thunderstorms through the region late this afternoon and into the evening. It is likely that scattered showers and even a few rumbles of thunder continue into the overnight tonight. Because of the clouds and likely light winds tonight we do anticipate patchy fog to develop with temperatures falling into the mid to upper 60s. It will remain a bit muggy into early Thursday.
It is behind this front that extremely comfortable air for the middle of July will be moving into the region. It will still be warm with highs in the low to mid 80s, a few upper 70s in the outlying areas or higher elevations, but the humidity will be extremely low. Sunshine will develop into the afternoon and that will stay with us into the evening, and the comfortable air will stick with us into the end of the week and into the weekend.
Thursday will likely begin with some patchy fog around with temperatures in the 60s and still just a touch of humidity in the air.
Sunshine will increase and the humidity will continue to fall through the afternoon on Thursday. Another thing will be the temperatures will be right around where they should be, meaning not expecting any high 80s or low 90s, instead, we expect upper 70s to low to mid 80s across the region.
Clear skies and light winds will prevail Thursday night and into Friday morning, so again, patchy fog will be possible. It will be cooler with many dropping back into the 50s and low 60s into Friday morning. And with drier air continuing into Friday afternoon we expect sunshine and temperatures to warm into the low to mid 80s, very seasonable.
It does seem likely the warm and comfortable weather will continue into the weekend with highs in the upper 80s and lows in the low to mid 60s. We will keep the sunshine on Saturday, however, there is the chance at a shower Sunday afternoon or evening with a weak cold front moving in from the north. We do look to turn a bit unsettled into early next week with shower chances Monday through Wednesday with temperatures mainly in the mid to upper 80s. Have a great night, stay dry! -Cap & Rob
