Former Champions League star spotted giving tactical talk between bin and broken fridge at non-league club

EX-NEWCASTLE star Nobby Solano was spotted giving a tactical talk to his new non-league club while standing between a bin and broken fridge.

Fans were full of praise for the Toon legend and former Champions League player after he made a stunning return to the North East with Blyth Spartans.

Solano was called upon by the Northern Premier League side following their relegation from the National League North.

And the Peru icon, who has coached in Canada and Sweden since retiring in 2012, has been tasked with winning promotion after signing a one-year contract.

But he is now miles away from the glamour of St James’ Park after taking charge of Blyth’s pre-season.

They faced North Shields FC away at the Daren Perssons Stadium on Tuesday, with Spartans going on to lose 2-1.

And fans were left delighted with Solano’s dedication to the cause as he was pictures dishing out tactics while stood between a bin and a broken fridge.

The former Aston Villa, West Ham, Leicester and Hull man looked as engaged as he ever was during his prime playing days.

And fans declared they “absolutely love football” thanks to Solano’s passion in a lower-tier league.

One said: “Good for him for not hiding away from a challenge.”

Another added: “That’s out of order… the fridge might be working.”

Solano, who played 314 times and scored 48 goals for Newcastle in two spells, admits he can’t wait to get the season underway , saying upon his arrival: “I know you’re great fans, faithful fans.

“When I signed I was in shops, I was quite surprised as people came to wish me all the best.

“We want to give everything and we want to please them until the end of the season.

“And we want to get back into the division we were in last year.”
