Local officials in Badakhshan province report that five people have died and 13 others were injured as a result of a traffic accident.

The Security Command of Badakhshan province stated that the incident occurred on Wednesday, July 17, on the road to Kohistan district in the province, resulting in five fatalities and 13 injuries.

According to Ehsanullah Kamgar, spokesman for the Security Command of Badakhshan, the incident occurred when 18 individuals were traveling in a Land Cruiser towards Kohistan district, and the vehicle carrying them veered off the road.

Officials in Badakhshan have described the injuries of four individuals from this incident as severe.

Traffic accidents have recently seen a notable increase in Afghanistan, with the primary causes often attributed to driver negligence and road defects.
