Emmerdale fans demand to know where multiple missing characters are – with some not seen for months

EMMERDALE fans have demanded to know the whereabouts of several ‘missing’ characters.

The long-running ITV soap features a large cast, with multiple storylines taking place in the fictional village.

Writing online, keen viewers have addressed that some characters have not been seen on-screen in some time.

One mentioned that Liam (Jonny McPherson), the village’s resident GP hadn’t been seen as much.

Until recently, he had been enjoying a new romance with Ella Forster (Paula Lane) – until learning her dark secret.

Both Liam and viewers discovered that as a child Ella (then Ruth) had killed her friend Joanne Phillips, who was of the same age, in an emotion-fuelled scuffle which went too far.

Being a bereaved parent himself, he ordered Ella to leave the village while saying he hated her and never wanted to see her face again.

However, spoilers suggest these two will soon be taking centre stage in the village’s drama once again…

Some other examples mentioned by viewers include Cathy Hope (Gabrielle Dowling), April Windsor (Amelia Flanagan) and Tracy Shankley (Amy Walsh).

One fan noted the trio had been absent “for weeks”.

Another agreed, as they wrote: “I do find it funny that Cathy had a whole storyline setup at the end of 2023, then the storyline is cut because Heath randomly dies, she gets a couple episodes being upset about it then…disappears entirely.

“It was one of the worst aftermaths of a death (especially of a twin) that I’ve seen.”

According to this viewer, Cathy’s most recent episode was March 14, while Tracy had appeared on June 4 after minimal sightings across April and May.

They also claimed Suzy Merton (Martelle Edinborough) hadn’t appeared since the end of May.

Another character identified as “missing” was Brenda Walker (Lesley Dunlop), who made her first appearance back in 2008.

Originally brought in as the adoptive mother to Gennie Walker (Sian Reese-Williams), the character of Brenda was later diagnosed with a brain tumour in one of her biggest storylines.

A fan wrote: “Brenda wasn’t even at Heaths funeral was she?

“Very strange unless I remembered that wrong, she was a mum to him for so long too?”

The location of Leyla Harding (Roxy Shahidi) was also called into question.

Someone remarked: “Leyla is also missing too, apparently she’s not stuck her nose into anyone’s business for several weeks now and fellow villagers find this very concerning and out of character.”

Emmerdale airs on ITV and is available to watch on ITVX.
