Police officer shoots man holding machete during domestic dispute in the Bronx: NYPD
SOUTH BRONX, The Bronx (PIX11) – A police officer shot a man holding a machete Wednesday night during a domestic dispute in the Bronx, according to the NYPD.
Officers responded to a call at a 3rd Avenue apartment in South Bronx around 10 p.m., per police. They were trying to calm tensions between a 24-year-old man and a woman before the man pulled out a machete, according to authorities.
The officers repeatedly told the man to drop the knife, per police. Officers then tried to deploy a Taser, which didn't work, according to authorities.
That's when one officer opened fire, striking the man in the left arm, per police.
Officers then took the man into custody and bandaged his arm to slow the bleeding, according to authorities. The man was taken to Lincoln Hospital and an officer was treated for minor injuries.
An investigation is ongoing, according to authorities.
