Report: Statistic says Spurs starlet is the best U19 shooter in the world right now
Tottenham fans were given a first look at new signing, Lucas Bergvall, on Wednesday night in a friendly against Hearts. A new statistic suggests there’s reason for excitement for the Swede after he records the best shooting out of all U19 midfielders.
Lucas Bergvall was signed in February
Ange Postecoglou’s Spurs secured the signing of Lucas Bergvall back in February, on the Swedish youngster’s 18th birthday, reportedly snatching the starlet from under the noses of European giants, Barcelona. (Sky Sports)
When asked about the decision, Bergvall explained to Sport Bladet ‘they are both incredible clubs. It was a very difficult choice, it was 50-50 for a very long time, but it felt like the next step for me was Tottenham’.
After Begrvall’s promising debut for Spurs against Hearts, there are signs that the Swede could have a very bright future in North London, a theory reflected by a new report on shooting stats for U19 midfielders.
Tottenham teenager is a world leader in shooting statistics
Spurs appear to have signed a midfielder who has the whole package following a tweet from CIES Football which displays Lucas Bergvall’s impressive shooting statistics.
Begrvall has recorded the best statistics for shooting among U19 midfielders who play across seventy of the world’s top leagues.
Some top-quality players trail the Swede in this statistic with recent Manchester City signing, Claudio Echeverri, narrowly lower than Bergvall in the table.
The remainder of the top ten are made up of players who have all recently signed for top clubs such as Paul Wanner of Bayern Munich and Assan Ouedraogo of RB Leipzig.
Although Spurs fans didn’t get to see Bergvall’s seemingly sharp shooting against Hearts the report suggests that the midfielder will offer Tottenham a goal threat as well as a creative one.

Bergvall likely leads various other statistics for his age too which would have placed him on Tottenham and Barcelona’s radar. The challenge for the 18-year-old will now be to adapt physically to the pace and power of the Premier League in comparison to the Swedish Allsvenkan.
