Attempted murder charges filed against man in Emporia
EMPORIA (KSNT) - A man was arrested in connection to an incident that happened on Monday, July 15, when the suspect allegedly attacked a woman with a mallet.
According to a complaint filed in the Lyon County District Court, the suspect allegedly kidnapped and attempted to kill a woman, repeatedly beating and/or strangling the victim who was involved in a dating relationship or a household member. The complaint alleges the suspect used a mallet in the attack.
On Wednesday, July 17 seven felony charges were filed against the suspect:
- Attempted murder in the 1st degree
- Aggravated battery - bodily harm with a deadly weapon
- Aggravated kidnapping
- Aggravated domestic battery
- Criminal threat
- Aggravated endangering of a child
- Aggravated battery - bodily harm with a deadly weapon
A first appearance is scheduled for 1:15 p.m. on July 18.
