Schenectady man arrested following traffic stop

A Schenectady man is charged with grand larceny and more following a traffic stop on I-890 in Rotterdam on Tuesday. Todd Podrazik, 47, faces several charges.

ROTTERDAM, N.Y. (NEWS10) -- A Schenectady man is charged with grand larceny and more following a traffic stop on I-890 in Rotterdam on Tuesday. Todd Podrazik, 47, faces several charges.

On Tuesday, around 11:30 a.m., police pulled a car over in Rotterdam for a vehicle and traffic law violation. Police say the driver, later identified as Podrazik, provided them with false identifying information and did not have a valid driver's license. Police say he also didn't have insurance and the car was unregistered.

Before the car was towed, troopers say they found multiple items with price tags inside. They also located a glass smoking device with drug residue.

After surrounding patrols were in contact, police determined Podrazik stole merchandise worth over $3,000 from an Amsterdam store earlier that day but was confronted by an employee. The items were recovered, and Podrazik fled the location before police arrived.

Charges:

• Third-degree grand larceny
• Fourth-degree criminal possession of stolen property
• Second-degree criminal impersonation
• Seventh-degree criminal possession of a controlled substance
• Petit larceny (two counts)
• Numerous vehicle and traffic law violations

Podrazik was taken to Princetown State Police where he was processed. He was then taken to the Schenectady County Correctional Facility to await arraignment.
