Victim of fatal Middleburgh crash identified

New York State Police continue to investigate a fatal two-car crash that occurred on State Route 145 in Middleburgh on Tuesday.

MIDDLEBURGH, N.Y. (NEWS10) -- New York State Police continue to investigate a fatal two-car crash that occurred on State Route 145 in Middleburgh on Tuesday. One of the drivers, identified as Beverly Conto, 70, of Fultonham, died at the scene, state police announced.

On July 16 around 1:42 p.m., troopers responded to the area following the report of a head-on crash with serious injuries. The ensuing investigation revealed that Conto was driving southbound on Route 145 when her car reportedly strayed into the northbound lane, resulting in a collision with a commercial vehicle.

State police say the second driver sustained minor injuries and has been cooperative with law enforcement. Route 145 was closed for about four hours while investigators assessed the scene.
