MIDDLE GROVE, N.Y. (NEWS10) -- At the end of April, Kevin Joyce sold Tinney's Tavern on Lake Desolation to new owners. The following month, Joyce, along with James Murphy and Erika Faas, opened The Post Pizza & More in Middle Grove.

Post Pizza is attached to the Middle Grove Post Office at 3 Lake Desolation Road in the former Post Café space. The café closed during the COVID-19 pandemic and the owner sold the building to Joyce.

Joyce owned Tinney's Tavern for over 10 years before selling the restaurant to Bill and Karen Miller, and Sean and Jaimee Willcoxon, who are the owners and operators of Performance Industrial. Joyce told NEWS10 that he wanted to spend more time with his children.

Since Joyce also has a full-time job, Murphy and Faas are helping to run Post Pizza. Murphy has about 30 years of pizza-making experience, said Joyce, and Faas, who was the general manager at Tinney's Tavern, is helping with day-to-day operations.

Over the past couple of months, Post Pizza has been working on expanding its menu. The eatery serves breakfast sandwiches, fruits cups and pastries, before switching over to pizza, wraps, salads, and baked goods from a bakery in Rockland County. Joyce said they are still working toward selling Boar's Head sandwiches and subs, having rotating specials, and providing catering.

"Our goal is to simply provide additional offerings out in the town of Greenfield," said Joyce.

The town of Greenfield encompasses a few hamlets including Greenfield, Porter Corners, Middle Grove, and Lake Desolation. Other than Post Pizza, restaurant options include Tinney’s Tavern, Fierro’s Pizza, The View Restaurant at Brookhaven, Warren's Ice Cream, and Triangle Diner (on the very edge of the town).

Post Pizza is looking to have a grand opening in mid-September. The restaurant is open from 8 a.m. to 7 p.m. Wednesday through Saturday. Joyce said they hope to eventually expand these hours to be open an extra day.
