The Air Jordan 6 Sneaker Gets Gold Accents for the Paris Olympics
The sneaker also includes pearl-shaped lace dubraes.
Jordan Brand is expanding its lineup for the Paris Olympics with a gold-accented Air Jordan 6.
The Air Jordan 6 “Paris Olympics” is slated to release in August as a women’s-exclusive. While the upper is rendered almost entirely in white suede, gold is used for the midsole and translucent lace locks. Pearl-shaped dubraes come affixed to the first three rows of the lacing, while the shoe is rounded out with a translucent outsole with a tinge of blue.
In addition to this new colorway, Jordan Brand is also bringing back the Air Jordan 6 “Olympic” sneaker. Michael Jordan didn’t actually wear that sneaker in the Olympics, as he wore a USA-themed colorway of the Air Jordan 7, but the Air Jordan 6’s “Olympic” colorway was released in 2000 and worn by Team USA’s Ray Allen and Vin Baker. The Air Jordan 6 released just one more time after in 2010 with some small changes, making its return in August highly anticipated.
A new grey-suede Air Jordan 4 “Paris Olympics” colorway will also release in July and has drawn comparisons to Kaws’ collaboration on the model from 2017, which can now fetch more than $2,500 on the resale market.
The Air Jordan 6 originally released in 1991 and was worn by Jordan when he won his first NBA Finals. Tinker Hatfield designed the sneaker with detailing inspired by cars including the spoiler-like heel pull. Holes on the neoprene tongue were also placed after Jordan requested a sneaker that would be easier put on and take off.
The Air Jordan 6 Women’s “Paris Olympics” will release August 7 through the Snkrs app and select third-party retailers. Pricing is set at $200.
