As the GOP prepares for the final night of the Republican convention, Students for Life Action (SFLAction) President and former Republican National Committee staffer Kristan Hawkins called on President Trump, Republican Party leaders, and GOP Congressional leaders to commit to a New Deal with the Pro-Life Generation to reverse the deadly impacts of the Biden-Harris Administration’s radical abortion policy.
“For more than half a year, SFLAction has worked behind the scenes to fight for a home for pro-life voters in our GOP for Life initiative. In the platform, we see a statement we can work with, given two clear goals articulated: Support for 14th Amendment protections and condemnation of late-term abortions. But from the podium this week in Milwaukee, the party that has been our voting home for decades has been silent about whether we are welcome…and that’s certainly not the reception that pro-abortion voters will get from the Democratic Party.

She continued: “It was disappointing to see Eric Trump, President Trump’s son, refer to the LIFE issue as merely a ‘spot’ on a basement wall, as though the loss of more than 65 million American lives isn’t worthy his consideration. But we do understand that as the Biden Administration contemplates packing the U.S. Supreme Court to manipulate the judicial process to force an abortion agenda and as Sen. Elizabeth Warren (D-MA) pledges to change U.S. Senate rules to force unlimited, taxpayer funded abortion into law, our greatest adversaries are the abortion bullies who have run Washington D.C. under the Democratic Party rule.
“Still, the GOP can and must do better. Pro-life Americans don’t expect political leaders to have all the answers, which is why we are laying out for the GOP our framework for a New Deal to ensure an end to the weaponized pro-abortion policy that has tainted the Biden-Harris record.”
Hawkins wrote:
Dear President Trump,
I’m writing to request a New Deal with the Pro-Life Generation to ensure that our nation welcomes the next generation of Americans in Life and protects them with the Law.
You have been a man of your word, making and keeping deals with the American people and with our allies around the world. As you launch your campaign following the Republican National Convention, the Pro-Life Generation must have a New Deal with a new Trump Administration, poised to return to the White House and Executive Offices of Washington D.C., building up our nation not just for we who will vote but for those who depend on us.
In your first administration, you kept your word and nominated judges and justices who respected the law and reversed injustices created by those who legislated from the bench. In particular, your singular accomplishment of three Supreme Court Justice appointments resulted in the end to Roe v. Wade, which wrongly invented a “right” to abortion out of thin air. This makes it possible for elected leaders and the local and state levels to now join federal office holders in protecting life in law and in service.
This possibility is reflected in part in the GOP Platform, which lays a framework for change on the human rights issue of the day – abortion – that has resulted in the deaths of more than 65 million Americans. So great a tragedy demands a federal response.
Building on the framework of the GOP Platform, the Pro-Life Generation asks for a New Deal that will:
1. End Federal Involvement with Abortion & Abortion Vendors. Abortion is federal in large part because taxpayer subsidize it. We ask that the Trump Administration Debar & Defund Planned Parenthood and cut funds to all national and international abortion vendors.
2. Appoint strong pro-life leaders to key roles to Stop the Weaponization of Federal Policy & Agencies against pro-life Americans and end the prejudice in favor of abortion in policy. The Biden Administration and their Democratic Party allies have used federal agencies, programs, mandates, and regulations against many Americans – pro-life individuals among them – a predatory practice that must come to an end. On abortion policy, those radical partisans acted from the inside of government at Health and Human Services (HHS), the Food and Drug Administration (FDA), the Environmental Protection Agency (EPA), the Department of Justice (DOJ), and the Department of Education (DOE) to name only a few. Even the U.S. Post Office has been weaponized in favor of abortion policy. We ask the Trump Administration to replace abortion activists in government with key appointments who will end the weaponization of policy on the life issue and restore programs to their life-affirming purposes. As personnel is policy, we ask for good pro-life partners to be added to the President’s team.
3. Condemn ALL Late-Term Abortion Measures, STATE & FEDERAL, beginning with the Abortion Extremism of the State Ballot Initiatives, Get-Out-The-Vote efforts for a flagging, failing Democratic Party Ticket. An abortion lobby grown fat off of federal dollars not only acts against the interests of mothers and their children, born and preborn, but also against GOP leaders, attacking them at every turn. To that end, state ballot initiatives this November will function as Get-Out-The-Vote efforts for the abortion lobby and as an effort to “enshrine” abortion into state constitutions to give legal cover to late-term abortion and to keep the tax money coming. We ask that President Trump and all GOP leaders — from the top of the ticket to the bottom – call for NO votes on the radical pro-abortion ballot initiatives in EVERY state where LIFE is on the ballot.
4. Affirm the fact that the U.S. Constitution provides support for protecting life in law in the 14th Amendment & add mention of these protections to legislative findings: Federal & State. The most significant contribution of the GOP platform on the human rights issue of our day was the inclusion of the fact that the 14th Amendment provides legal protection for life and is already in our U.S. Constitution. We ask that President Trump and his team talk about and affirm 14th Amendment protections for life and that legislators include it in legislative findings and discussion as an important legal foundation now restored with Roe gone.
The Pro-Life Generation, made up of more than 200,000 trained activists and active on more than 1,475 college and university campuses in all 50 states, is already engaged in the hard work of door-knocking, social media, and digital outreach, and direct campus engagement efforts to help build a winning coalition for November.
President Trump, we ask you and your GOP partners in Congress to give us something to vote for, a champion for the least of these, as we prepare to undo the disastrous impact of the Biden-Harris Administration and Democratic Party rule.
Mr. President, we ask for a New Deal for a new generation of voters.
