She returned from witness protection with one-time husband Ian Beale and their son Peter.

Earlier this week another of Ian’s wives made a shock return with Jane popping back up to reconnect with adopted son Bobby – much to Cindy’s fury.

And tonight she dropped the bombshell that another could be on the way.

As she grew tired of Ian’s lackadaisical approach to their relationship, Cindy made a shocking decision – to begin an affair with former stepson Junior Knight.

But in order to get away from Ian, she told him she had reconnected with her old pal Gita and was going to meet her.

“You know what? I forgot I’m meeting Gita for a drink,” she said.

“Remember Gita? My old best friend? We’ve been in contact and I totally forgot with everything that’s gone on this week.”

Gita – who was played by actress Shobu Kapoor in the soap – spent five years in Walford between 1993 and 1998.

But could she be making a comeback on screen?

Soap bosses have announced the returns of Walford icons David Wicks and Chrissie Watts for individual short stints over the next few months.

Who else could return ahead of next year’s 40th anniversary?

Boss Chris Clenshaw told The Sun: “As we head towards our 40th year, I think the nostalgic element means a lot.

“Into the autumn and the end of the year, we’ve got quite a few treats coming up.”
