Hollyoaks star Alfie Browne-Skyes shares video of ‘normal job’ after quitting soap
HOLLYOAKS star Alfie Browne-Sykes has given fans a glimpse at his ‘normal’ life since walking away from the soap.
Alfie, 29, is best known for playing Jason Roscoe in the E4 show but decided to leave eight years ago.
The actor has also appeared in The Bill, Doctors and The Walking Dead but struggled to find work when the pandemic hit.
Alfie still considers his main profession to be an ‘actor’ but he is now working as a roofer to make ends meet.
Taking to Instagram, the former soap star has shared a time-lapse video of himself and a colleague working on a roof.
With the sun shining down, the pair are seen working their way up and down the roof, laying new tiles with their tops off.
Alfie previously spoke about his new career and admitted he does get recognised while working on customers’ houses.
The star told the Joseph James’s Just Real podcast: “Going to work every day, working on people’s roofs and them recognising you from Hollyoaks is a hard thing to deal with at first – especially when they make comments and don’t realise what they are saying to you.”
Following his exit from Hollyoaks, Alfie landed a part in Tracy Beaker spin-off Dumping Ground. He then enjoyed a theatre tour of Sebastian Faulks’ war drama, Birdsong.
But when work dried up, Alfie said it took a toll on his mental health and he temporarily “lost all sense of direction”.
Alfie is thankfully now in a better place and he got engaged to his partner Aimee earlier this year.
The couple announced their happy news alongside a sweet photograph of themelves holding hands.
In the snap, Aimee was flashing a huge, sparkling engagement ring.
They captioned the post: “Mr & Mrs Browne-Sykes to be.”
It is not known exactly how long the couple have been together but Alfie has been sharing loved-up snaps of himself and Aimee for many years.
Meanwhile, Alfie has also been working hard on his physical fitness and, this month, showed off his body transformation after just eight weeks.
He posed topless in a ‘before and after’ shot to reveal his newly-toned abs and muscular back.
