Going beyond charity: Philanthropy in India seeks to offer the right solutions
Ultra-High-Net-Worth Individuals (UHNIs) are playing a critical role in the evolution of philanthropy in India, focusing chiefly on education (30%), healthcare (21%), and environmental causes (11%), as detailed in a report by Accelerate India Philanthropy (AIP) and Boston Consulting Group (BCG). Based on interviews with 100 UHNIs, the report highlights a strong preference for diversified giving, with 84% supporting multiple causes. Direct grants are favored by 56%, while 70% use operating foundations.
