Woman rescued after falling off ledge at Catskill Mountain House
PALENVILLE, N.Y. (NEWS10) -- Forest rangers recently jumped into action to help a woman who fell 40 feet off the ledge at Catskill Mountain House. The call came in just before 1 p.m. on July 8, but it wasn't clear if the person was lost or injured.
She was later found to have fallen from the top of the Catskill Mountain House. Rangers said they could see she had some traumatic injuries, so rangers anchored the ropes.
Once the patient was attached down below, they started pulling her up the cliff.
"Being able to get someone out of their worst day or worst moment or something as traumatic as this, there's nothing like it," forest ranger Seamus Peterson said. "It's always such a huge reward."
Every step he took, the rangers kept talking to the patient. Less than 10 minutes later, she was being taken to a helicopter for transport to the hospital.
