Howes Cave man arrested on felony weapon charges

HOWES CAVE, N.Y. (NEWS10) -- State police reported the arrest of a Howes Cave man following an investigation into a menacing incident. Manuel Tosado, 28, is facing numerous charges.

On Wednesday around 10:15 p.m., state police responded to a home in Howes Cave for a reported dispute involving a firearm. The investigation revealed that Tosado had been engaged in an altercation when he allegedly brandished a handgun, causing the victim to flee and contact law enforcement.

Arriving troopers were able to locate Tosado and take him into custody. State police say further investigation determined that the gun used in the dispute was possessed illegally.

Troopers at the scene also found a non-compliant long gun and several illegal high-capacity magazines. All of the firearms were seized by state police. Tosado now faces the following charges:

  • Four counts of third-degree criminal possession of a weapon
  • Fourth-degree criminal possession of a weapon
  • Second-degree menacing
  • Second-degree harassment

Tosado was arraigned at the Schoharie County Centralized Arraignment Part Court on Thursday. He was then remanded to the Schoharie County Correctional Facility.
