DIVINE PRESENCE (4.45 Newbury, nap)

John and Thady Gosden’s daughter of Classic winner Dubawi can really come into her own over this staying distance. She has been brought along slowly at Clarehaven and we had to wait until the December of her two-year-old season for her debut run. That was clearly just a sighter as she was fourth on the sand at Lingfield over an obviously inadequate seven furlongs. And few questions were asked on her comeback in May where she came home in her own time at Newmarket. Things got a bit more serious at Bath two runs ago where she went down in a photo when looking green in the closing stages. That saw her pitched into handicaps off a fair mark of 75 and it was no shock to see her get off the mark at Wolver. She was value for further than the neck winning margin especially as she was sleeping in the stalls and still looked inexperienced. The Gosdens reach for the cheekpieces today — which can help her concentrate — and the extra furlong should be right up her street. She’s been upped 5lb but can improve way past that mark.

PRINCIPALITY (4.10 Newbury, nb)

Was thought good enough to be sent off at just 4-1 for the red hot Group 2 Railway Stakes at The Curragh last time. He couldn’t land a blow there for trainer Richard Hannon and this looks a more suitable level. He earned his place at The Curragh with a sharp performance in scoring at Goodwood last month. He clocked a good time there over this six-furlong trip and looks capable of improvement today.

KALAMA SUNRISE (2.05 Haydock, treble)

She clocked up a fantastic four-timer in low-grade handicaps like these before a really unlucky head-bobbing second at Chepstow last time out. Jack Channon’s filly is best over this distance and, thanks to not scoring last time, she’s just 3lb higher than that smart run. She likes to tank along on the front end, handles any ground and will take plenty of pegging back again.

ROYAL ELYSIAN (3.15 Haydock)

She ran well when third over this trip at Newmarket latest when leaving her challenge a little too late. The softer ground here will bring her stamina into play and trainer James Ferguson is in decent form.
