Paphos police seize seven computers used for illegal gambling

Police in Paphos on Thursday evening seized a total of seven computers which they believe had been converted into illegal gambling machines.

Paphos police’s assistant operations director Michalis Nikolaou explained on Friday morning that police had searched a property in Kato Paphos after having obtained a warrant.

During the search of the property, he said, they uncovered seven computer towers and a decoder, concluding that there is “reasonable suspicion” that the computers had been converted into gambling machines, and that the computers’ owners had installed unauthorised copies of software programmes.

A 37-year-old woman, described as the property’s “administrator”, was then summoned by the police to give a statement.

The police’s investigation into the matter is ongoing.
