FUMING Love Island fans have revealed the ‘real reason’ Joey Essex keeps targeting Grace in show challenges.
Joey, 33, and Grace, 25, dated briefly in 2023 in the outside world, leaving many fans wondering if it could be second time lucky for them.
But a tense challenge earlier this week saw warring exes Grace and Joey involved in a huge bust-up.
And, during last night’s installment, things kicked off again as they took part in one called ‘couple goals’.
Taking to X, formerly Twitter, fans seethed – with one writing: “joey is def not over Grace… he mentions her as much as he can!”
Another added: “joey obsessed with grace,” while a third agreed: “Naaa, Joey is obsessed with grace!!! What the hell!!!”
Someone else chimed in with: “Joey is madly in love with grace, it’s so obvious,” as one more raged: “Week what and Joey is still obsessed with Grace.”
In yesterday’s episode, the challenge – hosted by Sean Stone and Matilda Draper – involved asking fellow contestants a series of savage and awkward questions.
Each couple had to write down who they thought the question was most associated with and then share their answers with the group and explain their reasoning.
However, things quickly got very tense, especially when Joey received most of the votes.
When asked which couple was the biggest game player, Reuben Collins said: “We’ve decided to pick Joey and Jessie. Joey knows the game and plays it well. When I was getting to know Grace, I felt like you weren’t too happy about it either.”
Joey quipped: “It’s only because I don’t believe in it. I don’t want you to get hurt.”
Grace looking visibly annoyed, snapped: “Why do you think I don’t like Reuben? How would you even know that? You can’t keep bringing my name up like that.”
Joey replied: “You keep walking around like Joey ain’t my type.”
“But why are you so offended by that Joey, you’re not,” Grace said.
Joey responded: “With these boys, you’re not really giving the same energy, you gave me. So I’m just saying from my part.”
“Because It’s different because we had something before that we built on,” Grace shouted.
Love Island series 11 - feuds in the villa
No edition of Love Island is complete without its fair share of drama - and series 11 is no different. Here's a look at some of the most fiery feuds so far.
- Joey Essex & Samantha Kenny: Samantha entered the villa on Day 1 and was initially coupled with Sam Taylor. However, Samantha was ‘stolen’ by Joey, the first bombshell of series 11. She was ‘dumped’ on Day 16 – with the make-up artist saying she had been brutally snubbed by Joey in the villa – although it never made it to air.
- Matilda Draper & Jess White: While Matilda arrived as a bombshell on Day 12, Jess was part of the original line-up. The two clashed in Casa Amor, over Jess’ frustration that Matilda was talking to new hunk Hugo Godfroy – who Jess previously snogged.
- Harriet Blackmore & Jess White: The two women were caught up in a love triangle for much of their time on the programme. The pair were fighting over Ronnie Vint, 27, from Greenwich, who wound up being dumped alongside Harriett.
To which Joey said: “I feel like you’re playing games with the boys. that is my opinion. I don’t care.”
Grace raged: “Why do you feel like I’m playing games? You do care because you wouldn’t be like ‘yeah I know she doesn’t like any of the boys.'”
Following the argument, fans took to X to complain about Joey’s behaviour.
One user said: “Can Joey be reported on ofcom to leave Grace alone.”
A second added: “Nah I’m reporting Joey to ofcom that’s it!!! Just when I was feeling relieved that Josh and Mimi are good he goes and messes things up again.”
“I might complain to OFCOM about Joey Essex. He is angering me GREATLY,” another added.
A fourth echoed: “Joey is bullying grace.”
