'Insult to American ideals': Mary Trump shudders at 'horribly violent' RNC rogues' gallery

Former President Donald Trump's niece Mary Trump slammed her uncle in her latest email blast — along with the entire Republican National Convention — for promoting a new kind of violence in American politics.

"My uncle and his allies in the corporate media want us to believe, with absolutely no evidence, that he’s a changed man," wrote Ms. Trump. "They want us to believe he cares about unity and 'lowering the temperature.' But the people he chooses to surround himself with make it crystal clear that nothing could be further from the truth."

In fact, she continued, the spectacle on display at the convention is nothing less than an "insult to American ideals." Because Trump, despite being "a convicted felon and adjudicated rapist who launched a violent attack on the United States Capitol," is far from the only "horribly violent" person speaking there.

"Ultimate Fighting Champion founder Dana White will be introducing Donald," she wrote. "This, just a year after White apologized when video leaked of him punching his wife in the head repeatedly. What message is Donald trying to send here? Part of it is borrowed masculinity (toxic or otherwise) because Donald, despite his delusions otherwise, is not a tough guy. But perhaps it’s also the same message he sent when he walked into the arena on Wednesday night to James Brown’s 'It’s a Man’s, Man’s, Man’s World.' As far as he and the Republican Party are considered, it is a man’s world. It also might be the same message Donald sent when he picked anti-abortion misogynist JD Vance to be his running mate. In their man’s world, women are to be controlled and subjugated."

And nor does it end there — also speaking are Hulk Hogan, the former wrestling star outed using racial slurs; Peter Navarro, who was applauded after getting out of prison for contempt of Congress; and Rep. Matt Gaetz (R-FL), who remains under congressional investigation for sex trafficking, drug use, and a manner of other offenses.

"Take a good look at the people Donald invited to his convention. Take a good look at the things they have said and done. Take a good look at the future they want for this country," Ms. Trump concluded. "And then please join me in doing everything we can to stop them."
