‘I’ll be crying about this for the next 6 years’ woman sobs on camera about her ‘horrific’ £53 manicure

THERE’S nothing better than leaving the salon with a fresh set of nails.

However, one woman was less than impressed after forking over for what she described as a “horrific” manicure.

In her viral video, Kaylyn Hill (@kaylyn.hill) shared how she was reduced to tears after splashing out on what she thought was a luxury set of nails.

She said couldn’t believe her eyes when she saw the final look of her new nails after spending £53 on the beauty treatment.

The 23-year-old said she did her due diligence, researching the exact look she wanted before her appointment.

Kaylyn revealed that she booked the manicure based on her sister’s recommendation.

Rather than visit her usual salon, her sister had opted to visit an in-house nail technician.

Kaylyn ended up crying in the car after forking out the money for her new nails.

She said she was appalled after the manicure didn’t resemble what she had discussed with the nail technician.

According to Kaylyn, the tech claimed she could do the job after receiving a description of the work.

Kaylyn received short multicoloured nails with thick tips, with uneven lines, despite apparently asking for quartz nails.

She said she wanted her nails to have a longer glossy-style appearance.

Despite her frustration, Kaylyn still agreed to pay the fee and offered no complaints directly to the woman.

The stay-at-home mum from Texas also left the nail technician a tip for her work.

Kaylyn described them as ‘Google Chrome’ nails, insisting she was going to remove them immediately.

“I’ll be crying about this for the next six years,” she said as she cried on camera.

“I paid for some horrific nails that look like Skittles. I said to the woman that they’re super cute and left her a tip.”

What are your rights to a refund at a salon?

What should you do if you are not happy with the beauty treatment you received?

The National Hair & Beauty Federation recommends making a complaint while you are still in the salon if you are unhappy with the service.

If you have already left the premises, they advise not going elsewhere to seek assistance as the original business will need to see the issue before addressing the complaint.

How are you legally protected?

The Consumer Rights Act 2005 (England and Wales) says:

  • If a service was not provided with reasonable care and skill or as agreed, the service provider must put things right within a reasonable time and at their own cost.
  • If this isn’t practical, you should get some or all of your money back within 14 days of agreeing to a refund.

What options will the salon give you to address the issue?

The business may offer to:

  • Redo all or part of the service.
  • Offer a full or partial refund.
  • Pay for you to have the issue fixed somewhere else (at a reasonable cost).

The video caused a stir on TikTok as users debated Kaylyn’s response to the situation.

“One, why do you need fake nails?! And two, real or fake they shouldn’t be any longer than a quarter inch,” said one viewer.

“When you’ve waited a long time to treat yourself, and £53 is all you have for that, it’s so disappointing when they’re wrong,” wrote another follower.

“I feel for you so bad.”

“She said, ‘You’re going home with Crayola,'” joked a third person.

Another TikTok user described the finished manicure as “offensive.”

The TikToker said she still tipped her nail technician after paying in full despite hating her her manicure
