Hugh Jackman in yellow Wolverine suits brings grown men to tears

The man always looked good in a suit.

Word has spread that something special happened during the first camera test on Shawn Levy’s superhero feature “Deadpool & Wolverine.” Producer Wendy Jacobson, in a video interview with British geek outlet HeyUGuys, spoke about the time the crew saw Hugh Jackman in the classic yellow and blue Wolverine duds.

The Australian song-and-dance man has played the Canadian mutant known as Logan in nine different movies (if you include one killer cameo) beginning with Bryan Singer’s “X-Men” in 2000. But never has worn the character’s classic original suit … until now.

Jacobson said that seeing Jackman and Ryan Reynolds together in costume before shooting even began was mind-blowing. But, she added, “Hugh walking out in the yellow and blue, there were grown men sobbing. We knew it was a special thing.”

Whether these grown men had also dropped scoop lights on their feet and were experiencing the blinding pain of broken toes has not been divulged. Nevertheless, audiences will soon get a chance to blubber for themselves when “Deadpool & Wolverine” hits theaters on July 26.

Hugh Jackman has a Tony Award for his lead performance in “The Boy From Oz,” a Grammy for “The Greatest Showman” in the Best Compilation Soundtrack Album for Visual Medium category and a Primetime Emmy for his Outstanding Individual Performance in a Variety or Musical Program for the 58th Tony Awards (a little bit of a cheat, but we’ll allow it). Though he has been nominated for an Oscar for his work in “Les Miserables,” the EGOT remains elusive by one win. Could the yellow suit be his ticket? No, of course not. But he’s got an A24 project, “The Death of Robin Hood,” opposite Jodie Comer directed by Michael Sarnoski up next which sounds a little more promising.
