Christopher Reeve’s Son Talks Upcoming ‘Superman Legacy’ Role

Will Reeve said the filmmakers have been "so kind" to him and his family.

ABC News correspondent Will Reeve, the son of Superman actor Christopher Reeve, has revealed exclusive details about his upcoming cameo in James Gunn’s Superman Legacy, set for release next summer.

Of course, Christopher Reeve played the Caped Crusader in four big-screen adventures, including Richard Donner’s classic 1978 version of Superman. Will is thrilled to be following in his father’s footsteps, and though no details have been confirmed, rumor has it that the television journalist will appear, fittingly, as a news anchor in Gunn’s film.

“I know the folks making the film, and they’ve been so kind to me and my family, and I had a free day, so we made it [happen],” Reeve told TMZ.

“I don’t know what I’m allowed to say,” he continued. “It was a really great experience; they were super friendly; it was quick, easy…I was actually more nervous doing that than I am whenever I’m on TV for my normal job because there was so many people around and I had to memorize one line, but still!”

Gunn is wrapping up filming duties on Superman Legacy in the coming weeks. The franchise reboot is slated for release on July 11, 2025.

Will, along with his siblings Matthew and Alexandra, have been working hard of late to keep their father’s legacy alive. In January, they were present for the Sundance premiere of the documentary Super/Man, which spotlights their father’s life and career and is set to be released by Warner Bros. on September 21. The Reeve siblings will also be doing press rounds to promote the movie in the coming months.
