'Tell Me Lies' Season 2 Update: Release Date Revealed & Showrunner Teases Some Drama on the Horizon
Tell Me Lies is officially back!
It’s been nearly two years since the first season of the Hulu series arrived in September 2022. After a lengthy wait, the premiere date for the second season has been revealed, and it’s right around the corner.
Showrunner Meaghan Oppenheimer shared the official news and teased some of the drama on the horizon.

Season 2 of Tell Me Lies premieres on Hulu on September 4. The first two episodes will arrive together, with the rest following weekly.
Many of the show’s original stars are set to return, especially its main stars Grace Van Patten, who plays Lucy, and Jackson White, who plays Stephen.
Speaking to People, Meaghan said that fans should expect “more of a war story” from the show.
“This season really cuts me to my core in a deeper way,” she teased. “It pulls on the heartstrings a little bit more while keeping that really propulsive, thrilling, kind of nasty undertone that everyone loves about it.”
Meaghan noted that one of the show’s new additions – Thomas Doherty playing Leo – is “a true love rival to Stephen” thanks to his easy chemistry with Lucy.

“We really wanted to avoid the pitfalls of the obvious new love interest that isn’t really a threat and isn’t really a competitor. We wanted someone who is a true love rival to Stephen and someone that we could really see Lucy with – whether or not the audience will root for him,” she explained.
She added that the series would expand beyond just Lucy and Stephen to focus on the dynamics of their larger friend group.
“It’s definitely still Lucy and Stephen at the core. They’re definitely the through line of the show. But my intention going into this show, even from season one was: What are the repercussions within a friend group from one central set of lies,” she said.
Here’s the official synopsis of the second season: “While very much at odds, [Lucy and Stephen] find themselves in a new version of their addictive dynamic – which is as infuriating as it is inescapable. Meanwhile, the story expands deeper into the lives of Lucy and Stephen’s friend group as the fallout from Season One impacts all of their lives in unexpected ways.”
