Kamala Harris to meet with major Dem donors on Friday: NY Times

As rumors swirl that President Joe Biden may drop out of the 2024 presidential campaign, the New York Times reports that Vice President Kamala Harris will meet with major Democratic donors on Friday afternoon.

According to the Times, Harris "will speak to the group at a time of extraordinary turmoil in the Democratic Party and when many Democrats are hoping that she will become the nominee," although it "is unclear whether Ms. Harris plans to encourage the restive donor base to calm down or to deliver some other message."

The call was organized by LinkedIn cofounder Reid Hoffman, who encouraged other major Democratic donors to join the call, although his message gave no indication that he would push Harris to take over for Biden at the top of the ticket.

“We continue to find ourselves in a rapidly evolving environment,” Hoffman said in the email. “With the stakes as high as they are this cycle, we have to remain focused on the critical work that needs to be done to protect our democracy.”

The report comes as multiple prominent Democrats, including Reps. Adam Schiff (D-CA), Jamie Raskin (D-MD), and Zoe Lofgren (D-CA) have all come out this week and pushed for Biden to exit the race.
