Manchester City has revealed their traveling roster for an upcoming summer tour of the United States. The reigning Premier League champions officially departed England for America on Friday. They are set to soon play four friendly fixtures across the eastern part of America. City will kick off their tour with a matchup against Scottish giants Celtic on July 23rd in North Carolina.

Following the game at UNC-Chapel Hill, the club will head to New York to play AC Milan at Yankee Stadium on July 27th. The Italian side previously announced a merchandising partnership with the historic baseball team. Three days later, City will go back south to face Barcelona in Orlando. They are then scheduled to complete their tour against familiar foes Chelsea in Columbus, Ohio on August 3rd.

14 stars featured at Euro 2024 were not on City’s USA flight

While City has one of the most talented soccer teams in the world, their traveling squad has several notable omissions. Erling Haaland, Jack Grealish, and Ederson highlight the roster currently headed for the States. Ederson’s inclusion comes as the Brazilian goalkeeper welcomes links to Saudi Pro League side Al-Nassr. Cristian Ronaldo’s current team, however, have so far failed to meet City’s asking price.

The aforementioned stars will also be joined in America by first-team players such as Kalvin Phillips, Stefan Ortega and Rico Lewis. Nevertheless, many of City’s top players are not on the traveling roster. This includes over a dozen key stars that recently competed at Euro 2024 in Germany.

The most notable absence in the squad for the tour of the US for Manchester City is star midfielder Kevin De Bruyne. The Belgium international crashed out of the tournament against France in the round of 16 on July 1. However, other crucial players such as Ruben Dias, Nathan Ake, Jeremy Doku, Bernardo Silva, and Josko Gvardiol are also absent from City’s trip.

With many Euro 2024 out of City’s travel list, there is no surprise that players in the title game will not play in the United States. England’s Phil Foden, John Stones, and Kyle Walker all started the massive match against Spain on July 14th. Rodri, the Player of the Tournament, also featured for the eventual winners. The star midfielder came off at halftime of the fixture due to an injury.

Euro players could still join City’s tour in the near future

Players participating at Euro 2024 were alone in their omission from City’s traveling squad. Julian Alvarez is not a part of the traveling squad. The attacker recently helped guide Argentina to the Copa America 2024 title in Miami. The final matchup, against Colombia, took place on July 14th as well.

While City’s traveling squad is undoubtedly a bit light of prominent firepower, stars may still make the trip in the coming days. The club revealed on Friday that other players could join their fellow teammates “in due course.”
