Rays Your Voice: Stadium deal passed by St. Pete City Council
One step closer to their new home.
One of the largest hurdles in a now-decades-long stadium saga has been cleared. The St. Petersburg City Council voted 5-3 yesterday to move forward with the Rays/Hines development plan for the Historic Gas Plant District, which will include a new ballpark for the team.
Danny Russell is back on the show this week to discuss the details of this deal and what it means for the Rays as well as St. Petersburg residents.
We also discuss some of the more interesting names in the Rays 2024 draft class, including their early picks Theo Gillen and Emilien Pitre, as well as some interesting names in the later rounds.
To wrap up the show, we discuss the start of the second half which gets going tonight in the Bronx. The Rays start the second half at 48-48, and it will take a lot to get into the postseason for a sixth straight season. Danny and I discuss the possibilities of getting back in the pennant race and how the looming trade deadline could shape their current and future plans.
