Duke Recruiting: Shelton Henderson Intel
How are things with the young star from Houston?
Shelton Henderson, a promising 6-6 wing out of Houston, is in a great position because he can essentially choose any school he wants.
Henderson, who attends Bellaire High, is a 5-star wing who has drawn immense interest from schools like Louisville, Kansas, LSU, Texas, Houston and Duke. The last three may be the main players.
Houston is the hometown school of course and Kelvin Sampson has put the Cougars back into the orbit that Guy Lewis had it in back in his heyday at Houston from 1956-1986. He had two particularly brilliant stretches, one in the late 1960’s and another in the early 1980’s.
As for Texas, Rodney Terry has been pursuing Henderson for some time and Henderson feels like they have a good relationship.
And Duke?
Apparently Henderson is close with Jai Lucas and don’t forget that Lucas grew up in Houston, where his father, Durham native John Lucas, settled at the end of his playing career and where he has done a lot of good work in many ways.
He says he'd like to make his decision by the early signing period. The Crystal Ball sees him as warmer on Duke but On3.com is much more inclined to say it’ll be Duke.
None of it matters though until he makes his own decision.
