Recalled baby rattles pose choking danger: CPSC

TOPEKA (KSNT) - Baby rattles produced in China and sold in the U.S. are being recalled Friday due to a choking hazard they pose to children.

The Consumer Product and Safety Commission (CPSC) announced on July 19 that around 3,000 of Manhattan Toy's "Brilliant Bee Rattles" are being recalled nationwide. The wooden base on the rattles can detach from the wooden rod and release three plastic rings which pose a danger to infants using the toys.

The recalled rattles bear the model number 166700 CQ on their bases. The toys measure around seven inches tall and four inches wide.

No injuries have been reported yet in connection to the recalled rattles, according to the CPSC. They were sold at independent specialty toy stores nationwide and online at www.manhattantoy.com from May 2024 through June 2024.

People who purchased the rattles are encouraged to stop using them immediately and take them away from children. The rattles should be returned to their place of purchase for a full refund or consumers should contact Manhattan Toy for instructions on how to make a return. A proof of purchase is not required to get a full refund.
