Nanaimo, B.C. (July 19, 2024) — The Nanaimo Clippers of the BCHL have added 2005-born forward Jack O’Donnell (Elmira, ON) to the roster for the 2024-25 season, the team announced today.

O’Donnell, 19, signed with the team after three stellar years in the Greater Ontario Junior Hockey League (GOJHL), capped off by scoring the overtime league championship-winning goal for the Listowel Cyclones last season.

It was the tenth playoff goal O’Donnell scored in 22 postseason games that year, adding to his 52 points (31 goals, 21 assists) in 50 regular season games, ranking him fourth in the entire league in goals and 18th in overall scoring.

“Jack was an offensive catalyst for Listowel, has great size, and brings a bite to his game as well,” said Clippers general manager and head coach Colin Birkas. “We see him taking a similar trajectory to [Clipper alumnus] Brody Waters – and in fact the two are family friends as well. We’re looking forward to welcoming and working with Jack in August.”

Prior to his championship run last year, O’Donnell added 23 points (10 goals, 13 assists) in 44 games for Listowel in 2022-23. He was named to the GOJHL’s Future Stars team when he made his junior debut at 16 with the Elmira Sugar Kings in 2021-22, scoring 9 points in 38 games.

O’Donnell and the Nanaimo Clippers will kick off the 2024-25 season in September with a brand new logo, set to be unveiled on Friday, July 26th. Stay tuned to the Clippers’ website and social media for more details – and secure your season ticket at tickets.nanaimoclippers.com
