I tried Lush’s new Turtles bath range – the jelly soap looks hideous but smells divine

LUSH has form for bringing out some amazing collaborations.

From the Shrek spa experience to Bridgerton bathbombs, they know how to jump on a trend and create must-have products.

It gives 90s nostalgia
There’s a surprise inside every bathbomb
The collection smells incredible
The collection is on display at Lush’s flagship store on Glasgow’s Buchanan Street

And their latest collection is ideal for any fans of the 90s as they’re teamed up with the Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles.

I was a MASSIVE fan of the aquatic superheroes as a kid, in fact a Tuesday evening was the only time I was allowed to eat in front of the telly – as it was pizza and Turtles nights.

So I was desperate to get my hands on this new collection – and it didn’t disappoint.

The selection arrived in a Turtles van box and as soon as I opened it up the amazing smell whacked me across the face. I wish someone had invented scratch and sniff smartphones, as it’s really was a treat for the senses.

With most of Lush’s products there’s a focus on being environmentally friendly.

In fact the team at the high street beauty brand claims that in real life, turtles love Lush because of its commitment to helping keep waterways clear of excess waste.

They put their money where their mouth is as the foam packaging from my box melts away if you run it under the tap – very clever.

First out of the box was a giant bathbomb in the shape of Donatello’s face – sold! Not only did this look comically cute, it also smelled brilliant with scents of zesty lemongrass.

It’s definitely the biggest bathbomb I’ve ever seen and, when I popped it in the water and it fizzled satisfyingly, I understood why. Once it had been in the bath for a while it cracked like an egg and inside was a little surprise – a purple soap bar in the shape of the Turtles’ iconic van.

The Lush team says you can collect them all for a different surprise in each one.

I loved the pizza bathbomb to. In the shape of a slice of pizza this smells good enough to eat – but please don’t be tempted. As the bath bomb froths, the bath melt topping – made of organic mango and illipe butters – melts to soften skin.

The collection also includes a Green Machine Bubble Bar, which you run under the tap to create a frothy bath, and a Turtle Power Solid Body Scrub, which uses sea salt and bamboo stem extract to exfoliate the skin.

There’s also a Goongala Shampoo bar. I am a recent convert to these. I never believed a tiny bar could wash my incredibly long hair – but they are top notch, leaving the hair silky and lasting for ages.

The most weird and wonderful of the lot is the Krang shower jelly – channelling the foursome’s arch enemy. I have to be honest, this looks very strange when you open the tin. It wibbles and wobbles like a blancmange and looks highly unappealing.

But the smell is divinely fruity with scents of bergamot and vanilla. And the jelly goes on like butter, leaving the skin super soft.

If you’re a Turtles fan – I’d say this collaboration is well worth shelling out for… dude.
