Love Island fans slam show for ‘budget dates’ and ask ‘where’s the money?’ after Josh and Mimii’s trip to the market
LOVE Island fans have slammed the matchmaking series for a “budget date” which saw Josh Oyinsan and Mimii Ngulube head to an outdoor market.
Viewers of the ITV2 matchmaking series were left asking “where’s the money?” as the fancy restaurants and hip cocktail spots of Mallorca were shunned for a more low-key space.
Mimii, 24, and Josh, 29, opted for a crochet teddy bear from one stall, naming it Jomii, as she gushed: “I feel like it’s only right for us to have our first ted, that will be our first born.”
Despite the pair hailing their outing a “beautiful first date, of many” Love Island fans were less than impressed.
One took to X to rant: “Market visiting as a date???? Has the Love Island money budget running low???”
A second put: “I want to know what is the budget for this date tho,” as a third mused: “Why’d Mimi and Josh get the lowest budget date in history – bro spent 15 euros on an overpriced item.”
One then put: “Sorry what kind of date is this for Mimii and Josh? It’s giving low budget.”
Another added: “What happened to the Love Island budget, sending Mimii to a market for the date?
“At least Josh had money so that was good.”
According to fans. Mimii has fallen foul of the show’s alleged scrimp and save methods earlier in the series.
On her date with original partner Ayo earlier in the series, fans urged bosses to “step up” when she headed out in a small boat – as opposed to a “yacht” which she claimed.
They also wondered if ITV had tightened the purse strings after noticing there has been a lack of in-villa games and challenges.
Meanwhile, another fan suggested that signing TOWIE star Joey Essex must have made a dent in the budget.
As Mimii and Josh headed out on their date strolling the umbrella shaded market stands, Ayo made a big confession to his partner Jess S.
They have been in a love triangle with Mimii ever since Ayo brought Jess back fro Casa Amor – leaving Mimii devastated.

Some viewers suspicious that the pair still carry a candle for each other – especially after Mimii clambered over The Terrace for a secret – yet ultimately failed – rendezvous.
On Friday – with his former partner out of the villa – Ayo hinted towards Jess he loved her.
It came after Josh and Mimii agreed to become exclusive following their market date and fans think it left a sour taste in Ayo’s mouth, so he reacted.
They also claimed to spot the “exact moment” that shows he still likes Mimii.
