ESCAPED prisoner Graham Gomm has been arrested after slipping free during a hospital trip – sparking a huge manhunt.

Gomm, 63, escaped HMP Wormwood Scrubs in west London on Thursday.

Gomm is on remand for burglary offences and was taken to Hammersmith Hospital by prison staff after being taken unwell.

But he was found to have absconded at around 1.18am in the morning.

Scotland Yard said today that Gomm had been arrested in Putney at around 8.30am this morning and returned to prison.

A spokesperson confirmed an investigation would continue into how Gomm escaped lawful custody.

The Met said: “As a result of a coordinated police operation working alongside colleagues from HM Prison Service, Graham Gomm has been arrested and returned to prison.

“Police officers from across the Met worked together after being alerted to Graham Gomm’s escape on 18 July.

“As a result of a proactive operation, officers arrested Gomm in Putney at around 8.30am today

“An investigation will continue into Mr Gomm escaping lawful custody.”

Gomm is the second prisoner to go on the run from Scrubs in just three years.

Convict Manray Woolfall also managed to escape while on a trip to hospital in 2021.

The category-B prison houses in the London borough of Hammersmith and Fulham houses around 1,000 inmates.

Former Scrubs inmates include Keith Richards, Pete Doherty, Charles Bronson, Ian Brady, George Blake and John Stonehouse.
