I use a $7 cream religiously – it’s old-school but underrated, there’s a reason it’s older than your great-grandparents

SOMETIMES it just takes a tried and tested product to turn back time, according to a skincare lover.

She swore by an old-school and money-saving skincare item that she prefers to any trendy buys.

Redditor Gapcautious3157 realized that she doesn’t need anything but one frugal find to smoothen her skin.

“I use Ponds religiously and have tried other moisturizers during different periods of my life, but I always come back to Ponds,” she said.

The best part is it you only need a little bit of product to make a big difference.

“It is affordable and one jar lasts months because the cream is so thick you don’t need a lot to put on your face,” she said.

She had even found multiple uses for the Ponds Face Cream which sells for $6.68 on Amazon.

That includes discovering that it also works as a “great” makeup remover.

She didn’t need any fancy brands in her routine.

“A lot of what you pay for in high-end beauty is really just advertising, cute packaging, and greenwashing. The old stuff works great,” she said.

Aside from Ponds, she was also a fan of other drugstore buys including products from Olay, Dove, Thrayers, Nivea, Vaseline, and Jergens.

“And work just as well and so much cheaper than the high-end $40 for a three-ounce tube you can get,” she said.

“Also, ladies and gentlemen, a lot of these products are older than your great-grandparents!” she continued.

“There has to be a reason why they’ve been around so long, am I right?”

Other users also shared how they discovered that Ponds were a worthwhile purchase.

“I have to laugh out loud. My grandmother lived to be 100. In her assisted living the staff asked me how her skin ‘looked so good, what was her secret?’ I told them Ponds,” said one Redditor.

“She always swore by Ponds Cold Cream. Now that you posted, I may just try this product. Thanks for sharing!” they continued.

  • Use Vitamin C to brighten the skin and don’t forget to apply to your neck.

“I have been a nurse for 15 years and I promise you every single woman over her 90s with great-looking skin, I always ask what products they use,” said another reader.

“Every single time it’s Ponds Cold Cream and Moisturizer,” they continued.

“I’ve been using Ponds Moisturizer in the jar for about four years and I can say with confidence that it is better for my skin than more expensive evolutions I have tried in the past.”

Yet others shared their own favorite finds.

“I swear by Queen Helene Cocoa Butter lotion. A huge bottle is about four bucks at Walmart. I love it because it is on the thinner side and doesn’t make me feel slimy and greasy,” said one Redditor.

“Stridex pads in the red tub – salicylic acid. It’s one exfoliant for my face that I rotate during the week that’s easy to travel with,” another chimed in.

“I also use them on my feet and in a pinch bikini line, behind the ears, etc,” they added.
