Government is continuing its efforts to remove sewage outfall from Christ Church.

Yesterday during a media briefing at Worthing Beach, Senior Minister in the Prime Minister’s Office in charge of Infrastructural Projects, Dr William Duguid, said they still intended to have Barbados’ sewage outfall centralised.

“This is something that we’ve been working on consistently, to be able to [have a single] permanent outfall. There is a permanent outfall already at Needham’s Point [in St Michael]. What we’re working on is to request proposals and an actual tender for an alternate route to that permanent outfall.

Once that goes through the final approval, through the board and agreement of Cabinet, then we will look to award that tender and get an alternate route to the permanent outfall at Needham’s Point,” he said.
