Journalist thinks ‘top talent’ will want to stay at Spurs despite Real Madrid links
Tottenham Hotspur have a few players they want to get rid of this summer, but when it comes to Real Madrid’s interest in one of their most exciting young talents, Spurs will be pleased to hear the player himself would rather stay put.
Spurs should be able to keep hold of Mikey Moore
Mikey Moore has proven to be an explosive talent since his emergence from the Tottenham academy. Fresh off the back of getting his first minutes in the senior side at the end of last season, he’s now scored his first senior goal in the friendly win over Hearts this summer.
The 16-year-old has been linked with both Real Madrid and PSG, but Ben Jacobs has told GiveMeSport that he expects Moore to ignore the speculation and stick with Tottenham.
He said: “I think Mikey Moore still wants to stay at Spurs. He’s a highly-rated talent and still only 16 years of age, so we always need to be a little bit careful in how we report these things.
“We’re still talking about a young teenager, and it’s important that the hype is not overblown at this stage because there is never any guarantee with players until they turn 18 and have that first professional contract, or obviously end up as first-team players.
“But it is true to say that Mikey Moore is a top talent, and Tottenham’s expectation is that he will stay at the club.
“The family are very grounded, as is the player, and they’re flattered by links with both Real Madrid and Paris Saint-Germain. PSG downplay any kind of concrete move at this stage, and Tottenham are still optimistic that he will stay at the football club because it’s the right place for his development.”
A bright start for Mikey Moore
Moore was called up to train with Ange Postecoglou‘s first-team in April and hasn’t really looked back since. He’s made his Premier League debut, scored his first goal, and starred for England at the Under-17 European Championships.
He’s been training with the senior squad so far this summer and could well be a part of Postecoglou’s plans for the season ahead.
Spurs Web Opinion
With all due respect, Real Madrid can back off. There is no way Spurs could or should let a talent like Mikey Moore go, and to be honest, I’d be keen to see him playing in the first-team this season, even if it’s just cup games and the odd Premier League game.
