Trump releases letter by ex-physician on former president's medical status after shooting

Donald Trump on Saturday released a letter from his former physician, the controversial Rep. Ronny Jackson (R-TX), outlining the ex-president's purported medical condition and saying it was "an absolute miracle he wasn't killed" during a recent rally shooting.

More and more people have criticized the ex-president for his lack of transparency when it comes to actions taken after his ear was grazed by a bullet while he was speaking on stage at a rally in Pennsylvania. He is scheduled to give his first rally since that time Saturday.

Hours before the planned Michigan event, Trump published a letter on Truth Social from his previous doctor. Jackson himself has been accused of running a "pill mill" while he was the White House doctor under Trump.

"The bullet passed, coming less than a quarter of an inch from entering his head, and struck the top of his right ear. The bullet track produced a 2 cm wide wound that extended down to the cartilaginous surface of the ear," the letter says. "There was initially significant bleeding, followed by marked swelling of the entire upper ear."

The letter claims that "there is still intermittent bleeding requiring a dressing to be in place."

"Given the broad and blunt nature of the wound itself, no sutures were required," Jackson wrote in the Saturday letter. "It is an absolute miracle he wasn't killed."
