'Not likely': Midfield duo are not in Man United's transfer plans - report

Manchester United are unlikely to chase the signatures of Xavi Simons and Adrien Rabiot this summer, according to Telegraph journalist James Ducker.

Man United are looking to bolster their squad and were linked with a move for Simons and Rabiot.

The Dutchman enjoyed a fine season on loan with RB Leipzig. He netted ten goals and registered 15 assists from 43 appearances.

Paris Saint-Germain might only sanction a loan exit for the attacking midfielder as they owe a significant sell-on fee if he is sold by January 2025.

Ducker reveals United have watched Simons closely for a long time. However, a transfer move for the young talent appears increasingly challenging.

Rabiot is without a club after his contract with Juventus expired on June 30.

United have plenty of attacking options after signing Joshua Zirkzee and reintegrating Jadon Sancho into the squad.

The Red Devils are prioritising signing a defensive midfielder with Casemiro linked with an exit.

The signs of his decline were pretty evident last season as the veteran failed to match the intensity of the Premier League.

He is one of the club’s highest-paid players. His departure will free up a considerable part of the wage bill.

United have agreed personal terms with PSG’s Manuel Ugarte and are negotiating a transfer fee with the French club.

The 23-year-old is known for strong tackling, positional awareness, and ability to break up play.

Rabiot has been regularly linked with an Old Trafford move over the last two years.

United tried to sign him the previous summer but discussions hit a snag as the two parties couldn’t find common ground on wage demands.

At 29, he does not fit the long-term vision of INEOS. A transfer to the Theatre of Dreams under the new hierarchy is highly unlikely.
