Sean Crighton: Need to switch on from first to last whistle

Queen’s Park B Head Coach Sean Crighton was pleased with how his young charges played in Saturday’s 2-2 Friendly with Lowland League Albion Rovers however he wants his players to be switched on from the first whistle to the last.

Sean said: “To me the early part of the game and the last minute of a game showed that it was young players playing. They were a bit naive and gave away free-kicks in dangerous positions.

“They were tending to over play, but it is all about learning. We want them to be comfortable with the ball all the time, but there at times and places for another approach and they got that wrong at the beginning and end.

“I was really pleased with how they pressed the game and hunted as a pack. There was lots to be pleased about although there was also bits of naivety.”

The summer appointment added: “There is a good character in the squad, I have seen that since I came in. We went to Leeds United last weekend and won 5-0 and the training has been excellent.

“They have listened well to what they have been asked to do. You could see that in the game from their passing play and movement as well as their willingness to run.

“Our League starts on August 26, and we will keep working towards that. We have a game this week on Tuesday when we face Drumchapel and then we host Accrington Stanley next weekend.”
